Enrique is an experienced aviation consultant focused on commercial aircraft and engine leasing, remarketing, and trading. With over 40 years in the business, he has works closely with lessors, airlines, and investors, bringing deep market knowledge and strong commercial judgment.
Enrique Abeledo is the founder and managing director of Transaire Consulting, a company he started in 2023, shortly after leaving his Head of Aircraft Trading position with Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) where he enjoyed a very successful 20-year career.
Enrique’s passion for aviation started when he was 20. With a fresh private pilot license in hand, he became fascinated with commercial and WW2 aviation, until one day he came across the last surviving DC-3 in the civil register of his native Argentina. The DC-3 had operated for the Argentine branch of the Ford Motor Company and was about to be torn down for scrap metal. Although by then the model was already obsolete for economic operation, it had a VIP interior, panoramic windows and a plush interior equipped swiveling chairs, a bar and mahogany cabinetry.
Quite uncertain of what he would do with an iconic aircraft of such size and historic relevance, he went against the advice of several friends and seasoned aviators and bought it. Something inside told him it was the right move. Time proved his instinct was right when shortly afterwards he sold it to an Irish preservation society at four time the price had paid. This sparked the beginning of a very successful aircraft trading career.
Fast forward to year 2000 and many aviation transactions later. Enrique had an exclusive mandate to sell three Twin Otter aircraft on behalf of an oil and gas contractor. It was through and ad in Trade-A-Plane that he met the founder of NAC, who ended up buying the Twin Otters and was very pleased with the way Enrique had conducted business.
A job offer to join the NAC’s HQ in Denmark followed soon. It was in this position that Enrique learned everything about aircraft leasing and started trading much bigger aircraft like Boeing 737s and A320s. His market facing role helped him build a very robust business network. What had started a marketing job at a small family business where he had joined as employee number 7, ended up becoming a senior aircraft trading role on what over time became the largest regional aircraft lessor with over 230 employees and a portfolio of more than 500 aircraft placed with clients in 48 different countries.
Over the years, Enrique has placed, sourced, restructured or traded over 250 transport aircraft in five different continents. Following the pandemic, the NAC business was sold to another leasing company in the Middle East and Enrique decided to start his own consulting company in Denmark using the same name his original business in Argentina had: Transaire. This new venture quickly confirmed that passion, dedication, customer focus and a broad professional network are the formula for success. Today Transaire Consulting has a portfolio of carefully selected clients that includes airlines, engine, regional and large aircraft traders. To be continued...
